fleegerstranger This record flows as one cohesive piece. There’s beauty and chaos that act in contrast to one another in perfect compliment. The songs are long but the music always goes somewhere new and exciting. This is well thought out and excellently executed metal. I hesitate to classify but fans of Doom, Avant-Garde, and Extreme Metal will feel welcome. Highly recommend the whole record together (Unabridged) but Sacrament is a standout.

Movement I Origins Born of light, From the womb arise. In the still of night, Your light casts shadow. In a world so cold, Life does unfold. Awaken to your throne, Burnt, broken, torn. Destiny, yours to breathe. But we beckon to, the solitude of the blind. Feel the sun, warms our blood, And helps us Rise! {a mother to her child, featuring Brighad Wagner on vocals} We sat upon the ocean green and peered into an apex. A center line is clear to see, but there is a tax. We give it all, we give it life, but in despair we do see. The eyes that cry at night (my child) are made by hands that bleed. Ghost of our births, we give to this earth- An eternal sacrifice- Lift your head, & Dry your eyes, That pain you feel, unsure what is real. Altars rot, far from home. War and hate, forsake your breath, a system deranged. All the pain, turned to rage, We burn. We give it all, we give it life, but in despair, we do see- Death’s light. Welcome to the apocalypse of time.
2.
Movement II Contemplation {A journey of inner reflection and contemplation} Instrumental Cedar flute: Si Matta
3.
Movement III Sacrament What is this I finally see. Liberation weighs inside me. To make myself of earth and sky, One must never question why We’re bone & Earth- In one large circle- unto death- We rise. Death feeds Life Life needs Death One large circle- One short breath.
4.
Movement IV Death As life drains Colors fade Disconnection begins From mortal plane. Slow pulsing Fetid flesh. Alluring ancient necromancy Amber eyes Adorning black cloth. Stench of death Draws it near. From Darkened wood. Ghastly figure approaches With convincing gesture. I let go

This is a tale of birth, life, death, and coming into ones own power in a broken world of illusion and disconnection. It is told from two perspectives, the self, and the mother of self. It resolves with the acceptance of all that is real and tangible, the precious moments of breath that inevitably cycle back to the compost of time. From the grave, flowers shall rise.

about

Cathartes Aura Corvallis, Oregon

Cathartes Aura is an intentional project focused on the expression and catharsis of life. A story of Origins, Catharsis, Contemplation, Death, and the acceptance of cycles during a time of chaos. The human condition is drenched in cycles, and a crescendo feels inevitable. Our music is an expression of this, utilizing melody and harshness as an aid to navigate this narrative artistically ... more
